Who’s Got The Nuts Now, Joe?
During an historic week on Capitol Hill, Representative Joe Barton (R-Tex) - who proudly declaims that human-generated greenhouse gas emissions (GhGs) are not what is driving global climate change and that climate change is not a serious problem - used a Texas colloquialism to predict House Energy and Commerce Chair Henry Waxman (D-Calif) did not have the votes to pass a landmark energy and climate bill out of committee.
The Committee approved the bill, making Barton as wrong about the vote as he is about climate change and its cause.
The Waxman-Markey bill would establish the first-ever national Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) to spur New Energy growth and a groundbreaking national cap&trade system designed to use the innovativeness of the marketplace to cut U.S. GhGs.
